I'm not sure what possessed me to do it, but one winter day we were out at my parents' house I decided to take a picture of their wagon wheels and since I've now captured the same picture during all four seasons. It's difficult to tell because they don't have any other trees other than their evergreens there to really show the change of seasons, but I know. And I'm so happy I did this. Now I'm looking for my next seasonal picture collage to do.
This week I wrap up one of the books coming out later this year and debating about adding the male perspective in the first book coming out next year. I keep going back and forth on that one and each time I think I'm connecting with the male but not. In book signing news, I've decided to put goodie bags together for readers when they come visit me at my booths. So far I'm going to include bookmarks, a list of all my books in order of reading, a custom ribbon bookmark, and maybe some chocolates. I'm still trying to figure a few things out that won't cost me an arm and a leg to get in stock. If you have any ideas feel free to let me know. Over the weekend I met with a few local authors, establishing a group to meet quarterly. It was a great couple of hours spent getting to know others and forming our community. I hope to see more joining us down the road, so if you're local to Sheridan, WY our next meeting will be at the Fulmer Public Library, August 17th at 3 pm. That's all I have for the week. I'll be back Friday with What Brooke Read. Have a great one! x Brooke

This past weekend was a tease! Two back-to-back beautiful days of getting to be out in the sunshine and helping my body to create some Vitamin D and now we are back to another system coming in for the next few days.
At least I got some grass seed spread for both my front and back yards to help fill in spots I've had issues getting grass to grow in the past few years and had a group of teenagers help move our garden. Today, I'm diving back into second drafts - starting them a whole lot earlier this year to free up my summer - first, I need to work on fixing a book coming out later this year before it gets sent to my incredible editor. If you happen to be local to the Sheridan, Wyoming area, this coming weekend there will be an author group meeting at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library in the Fulmer Room at 1 pm. If you are able to make it, we'd love to have you! Aspiring or already published, it doesn't matter, all are welcomed! That's all I have for this week. Have a great one! x Brooke With honestly very little snow fall here in my neck of the woods, we are no relying on more rain to help keep us from drying up faster than a popcorn fart as my grandpa would have said. While I was getting grass seed yesterday someone at the store told me they were tired of the snow. I wanted to ask how could this person be tired of it when we barely got any? But I kept my mouth shut.
While it rained yesterday, I spent my time finishing up the first book for 2025 and added nearly 16,000 words to it! I'm both excited and nervous about this book. it's a standalone so I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. Now, I'm turning focus to making some corrections on a book coming out this summer while also doing work for my other job. I hope you have a great week! x Brooke I got sidetracked on Friday and over the weekend that I forgot about doing my monthly wrap-up. So rather than a regular blog post, which I don't have much to share right now anyway, I'm doing the wrap-up now.
Some of these books are series, so I'll be adding the links for the series pages rather than the first book and most are on Kindle Unlimited. Tempting the monster by Hayley Faiman Goodreads Amazon All weekend I saw people posted about how the groundhog lied to us all about an early spring. While it's just a joke and a tease because rodents can't predict the weather, I couldn't help but look out my window yesterday as the snow fell and welcome it. Winter had been a dry one for my part of Wyoming and while the snow will be gone likely by Wednesday, I was happy to see it. Think of how there will be less water restrictions later this year, a possibility of less fires? There's always a bright side to find. Spring Break is this week for our area and just like all previous years, it's spent mostly inside with my youngest bundling up to head outside.
This week I'm diving into re-writes early. I have a book giving me an issue and waiting for feedback from a friend reading through it to figure out what I'm going to do. So, for right now since I have 5 books coming next year as well, I'm working away on second drafts for at least the first book of 2025 for now. I'll be back at the end of the week with What Brooke Read. As always, have a great one! x Brooke This week perfectly showcases how odd Wyoming weather can be. While the rest of the state seems to be getting slammed with snowstorms, Northern Wyoming has barely seen any of it that I'm concerned for snowpack and drought this summer. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be in the high 60's before we steadily drop to possibilities of snow later in the week. I highly doubt we'll see any aside from up on the mountain. Which, for once, would be okay with me because I have to drive three hours east Saturday with my mom, children, and dogs.
Last week, I wrapped up my first complete rough draft since November and now trying to figure out what I'm doing next. I'm in a dilemma with one book coming out this year. I have two very different versions of it and trying to figure out which one to go with. Thankfully, a good friend of mine is helping me out by reading both. For now, I'm going to try to focus on a certain cottontail shifter who needs his story told now. I had one story done for him, but going in a different direction now. Unfortunately, this means his book won't be coming out until 2026, but I hope he's worth the wait. That's all for the week! Have a great one! x Brooke I couldn't get a picture of all three of them together, so you get my sweet girl while her two cousins chase each other around my living room.
This week leads to the end of one of the rough drafts I've been working on and on Saturday when I get to the end, I will call to the end of my writing slump. I wouldn't say it was a block because I have plenty of ideas and stories started, but not very many actually finished. Saturday, I'm really hoping this will be the end of it so I can at least get one more book written before I start on second drafts for the summer. It'll likely not happen until after I get my ears pierced for second holes this coming weekend. I've been wanting to do it for a long time but kept chickening out until I told my best friend to schedule an appointment and I'll go to get them done. I prefer wearing hoops but have so many cute studs I could wear in the second hole after they are both healed up. I don't have much else to add for this week. As always, have a great one! x Brooke New Year's Day, the husband, our youngest, and I took a ride up the mountain and I thought I saw too squiggle lines up on a hill. This picture was taken with me practically backward in the passenger seat and through a back window because the husband wouldn't stop.
Sure enough, two perfect lines. The picture turned out pretty well, don't you think? Anyway, as this first full week of March begins, I'm working away on projects and thinking up something new that's both book related and not so much if that makes any sense. Last week, I released yet another book, don't worry, you get a break now until May when Whiskey Throttle comes out. If you are interested in The Mating Chance, it's available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Smashwords for now. I don't have much else to share. Have a great week! x Brooke It didn't feel like I read a lot of books in February, but apparently I did. Let's dive right on in!
